An interesting interview with Roger Dooley of the Neuromarketing Blog. The interview is called "This is Your Brain on Wine." Although the interview focuses on wine, it's applicable to marketing in general. Here's an example of a Dooley answer from the interview: "Effective Internet marketers let customers do some of their own categorization. Many customers will want to view wines by varietal, for example. Some may want to view products by price range, or country of origin, or winery. Giving visitors some simple options to drill down to what they want quickly improves the chance of a sale." You can read the interview on israeliwineblog.com( via blog.guykawasaki.com)

It’s matchday at LUON today. After months of hard work and smart thinking, it’s time to deliver. Tomorrow, LUON will distribute the first RSCA Official Matchday Program to 25 000 raving Anderlecht fans for the first home match against challengers AA Gent. This Matchday Program is completely free. It’s a cool magazine (A5 format, 64 pages) focused on the match of the day and the ‘purple’ mind of the Anderlecht fan: previews and tactical analyses of the opponents, a column by Anderlecht icon Paul Van Himst, nostalgic images and legendary stories, supporters chants, authentic uncut pictures selected from the archives of Jeanke Photo, etc. What’s unique about the concept is the intense interactivity: via the website www.rsca.be/matchday all fans can send fan mails, upload their own pictures, test their knowledge, play games, predict results, pick the man of the match en much more. This matchmagazine not only aims the male die hard football freak. No, there’s content for everybody: kids, corporate fans and even the ladies. This medium offers new opportunities for brands who want to advertise. First of all, you reach a public of 25 000 to 30 000 football fans who are waiting for the match and thus have the time and attention to absorb in your message. And secondly, the combination of print and e-coupons enables you to launch interactive campaigns that are measurable. It’s a win-win-win for all people involved: the fans, the club and the advertiser. It’s time to kick off. www.rsca.bewww.rsca.be/matchday http://www.matchday.be/rsca/Matchday/01/Default.html: pdf-version of the Matchday Program.

You can find updated statistics on web browser usage on the W3Schools site. As they explain themselves, the percentages are based on the weblogs of the W3C website (used by people with an interest for web technologies). Meaning that in reality the market share of standard IE will probably be higher than published in the lists below. But what is especially interesting to keep an eye on, are the long- and medium-term trends. And of course you always have to keep in mind the profile of your own site visitors (check your own site analytics) Let me know if you have other sources of aggregated up-to-date figures.

This could be a good article to start with after a blog sabatical. It's from Steve Rubel on LifeHacker Social media is the equivalent of digital food. It's nourishing, tasty and, for many of us, necessary. However, consume too much and you can get sidetracked and create larger consequences. The good news is you can participate in social media in a way that adds value to your life. You just need to know how to manage it so so that it does not devour your attention—the most valuable commodity of the digital age. Here are three simple steps to take: * Step 1 - Set a North Star * Step 2 - Apply the Pareto Principle * Step 3 - Schedule Time to Be Social Read the full article on LifeHacker
It sounds like a contradiction in terms at first, considering all the energy that gets lost to the massive sound and light systems nightclubs are packed with. Not to mention the huge amount of human consumption that takes place during a typical club night and the tons of waste that go along with it.
Yet, Rotterdam based organization Enviu introduces the concept Sustainable Dance Club to the world. Under the baseline Think global, dance local SDC is enabling festivals and clubs to become more sustainable. They do so by combining a creative approach with innovative technologies:
Sustainable Dance Floor Flagship of SDC is the Energy Generating Dance Floor which turns the crowd into an energy source, contributing to power the club.
Zero Waste Bar This bar runs all drinks on tap from large containers, saving energy, water, waste and time.
Fancy a night of sustainable clubbing? You can find world's first ecological nightclubs in Rotterdam (Club WATT) and London (Club4Climate).

... Read more >
